Apple not only released a preview of its next operating system,Mac OS X Lion, to developers today, the company is also giving it to security experts for review."I wanted to let you know that I've requested that you be invited to the prerelease seed of Mac OS X Lion, and you should receive an invitation soon," said a letter sent by Apple to an unknown number of security researchers. "As you have reported Mac OS X security issues in the past, I thought that you might be interested in taking a look at this. It contains several improvements in the area of security countermeasures."Dino Dai Zovi and several other researchers tweeted about being invited to try out the prerelease version of the new Mac OS. "This looks to be a step in the direction of opening up a bit and inviting more dialogue with external researchers," Dai Zovi wrote. "I won't be able to comment on it until its release, but hooray for free access!"I asked Charlie Miller, another expert on Mac security, if this was the first time Apple had offered to show an OS preview to security experts, and what the significance is."As far as I know they have never reached out to security researchers in this way. Also, we won't have to pay for it like everybody else," he wrote in an e-mail. "It's not hiring us to do pen-tests of it, but at least it's not total isolation anymore, and at least security crosses their mind now.""I haven't downloaded it yet, but if I had, I couldn't talk about it," he added. "Damn NDAs."

0 Vote(s)

President Obama's attendance on Friday at a groundbreaking ceremony for an Intel manufacturing facility in Oregon comes at a critical moment for Intel, whose PC-centric chip manufacturing is being challenged by large, smartphone-centric Asia-based rivals. The world's largest chipmaker announced last year that it would spend between $6 billion and $8 billion on U.S.-based manufacturing in Oregon and Arizona. Primarily targeted at building processors for the next generation of laptop, desktop, and server computers. Obama is scheduled to attend a ceremony, hosted by Intel CEO Paul Otellini, for a future Intel plant that taps into some of that money. Called a development "fab," or fabrication facility, the future factory codenamed "D1X" is targeted at chips with geometries as small as 14 nanometers, according to Intel spokesman Chuck Mulloy. That's as cutting-edge as chip manufacturing gets and underscores why Intel is the world's largest chipmaker. How cutting-edge is a 14-nanometer manufacturing process Intel's latest chips announced in January use a 32-nanometer production process. Its next-generation chips will use a 22-nanometer process. So, this is a next-next-generation facility. Generally, the smaller process geometries, the more advanced the manufacturing is. "We expect that fab to begin producing and developing that process in 2013," Mulloy said. Intel&39's planned 14-nanometer D1X facility at its Hillsboro, Ore., complex, which President Obama will visit on Friday.(Credit:Intel)High-tech manufacturing in the U.S. has become an increasingly rare phenomenon in an age when make-it-in-China has become de rigueur for U.S. companies. Obama has been a proponent of U.S.-based manufacturing (PDF) and sees U.S. factories as a way to create badly-needed jobs. The Obama Administration's effort to save General Motors--and its satellite of U.S.-based manufacturing sites--is the most prominent example to date. "Intel has committed to investing more than $6 billion in their U.S.-based manufacturing facilities to support future technology advancements in Arizona and Oregon, creating more than 6,000 construction jobs and more than 800 permanent high-tech jobs," a White House official said in a statement. "The meeting is a part of our ongoing dialogue with the business community on how we can work together to win the future, strengthen our economy, support entrepreneurship, and get the American people back to work." That is uplifting language, but Intel is now facing a growing number of consumers arming themselves with iPhones, iPads, and Android phones andtablets. Those devices and the chips inside are made in Asia by manufacturing Goliaths such as Samsung, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), and Foxconn. And that Asia-based manufacturing is being driven in no small part by U.S. companies like Apple, Hewlett-Packard, and Dell. "You have to have the manufacturing close to your customers," said Vivek Wadhwa, a senior research associate with the Labor and Worklife Program at Harvard Law School. He argues here that U.S. companies typically get most of their revenue abroad--which is also the case for Intel--and therefore must manufacture abroad. Intel argues, however, that though it sells most of its products overseas 75 percent of its manufacturing in the U.S. And it is purely practical for Intel to manufacture chips in the U.S. because it has built up a cadre of highly skilled workers here. Needless to say, Intel believes that work force should be gainfully employed for a while yet. The PC industry hit a milestone this year of 1 million PCs shipping per day and Intel's fabs in the U.S. will supply the processors for the vast majority of those computers, as well as for growing markets like embedded devices, used incars and medical equipment. The challenge for Intel is how much and how fast consumer tastes will change. "We see an emerging class of ultramobile devices," Otellini said at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, on Tuesday. And he cited a "seminal event" in the fourth quarter, when smartphone shipments passed PC shipments for the first time. Intel's continuing mantra is that consumers will use both an Intel-based PC and a mobile device as it feverishly tailors future silicon for small devices. "No single device wins," Otellini said. As Intel is one of America's last standing major chip manufacturers, Obama can only hope that Otellini is right. The president will also get briefings on Intel's science and math education programs--since education is another big theme for Obama. Intel hands out about 100 million dollars a year in science and math contributions for education.

0 Vote(s)

(Credit:Yoo Geun-hyuk &amp' Yoon Bo-jung, via Yanko Design)Fans of Polaroid photos, check this out. Korean designers Yoo Geun-hyuk & Yoon Bo-jung have conceptualized the Flutter In Pinhole camera, which is made from cardboard and has two Polaroid sheets inside. It comes shipped flat, and users simply have to expand the case and remove the strip covering the two lens openings at the front of the shooter to take a shot. Supplied with the snapper is a white pencil which you can use to roll over the back of the camera to "process" the photos. Then, cut the snapper in half and you'll see two exposed Polaroid frames. There are even spaces at the side for you to use the pencil to write a message with.It sounds confusing, but check out the video below to see how it works.
The Xfinity app running on Apple&39's iPad.(Credit:Comcast)Comcast has launched its Xfinity TViPad andiPhone app in Apple's app store. The application, which is available for free, allows Comcast customers to browse or search for TV listings from Apple's tablet or smartphone. Once the user finds what they want to watch, they can tap on the show in the app and immediately change the channel of their DVR to that station. If a show isn't on yet, they can also program their DVRs to record the episode or series.Next month, Comcast plans to make television shows and movies viewable from its application. The app will boast shows and films from "the top premium networks," Comcast said. Over time, the company will add "thousands of additional entertainment choices."Comcast also plans to double down on its mobile application development going forward. The company revealed today that the Xfinity launch is "the first in a series of scheduled app releases" for iOS-based devices. In addition, it plans to make "several" Android apps available this year, as well as programs for the BlackBerry and other mobile devices.Comcast isn't alone in its desire to expand its offering through the iPad.Earlier this year, Time Warner Cable unveiled an iPad app prototype that shows current programming and full TV listings. The cable provider indicated at the time that its goal is to give users the ability to watch shows when away from home on their iPad, and once they get home, resume watching the show on their television.

0 Vote(s)

Updated at 2:12 p.m. PT, with additional comment from Microsoft.Microsoft has joined the ranks of Apple and Google in placing what, to some, is considered a controversial security measure into its mobile application platform. Built intoWindows Phone 7, and the apps made available through the included marketplace application, is a layer of security that lets Microsoft disable or remove entirely an application from a user's device. The safety feature, it turns out, was also included in Windows 6.5 through the Windows Marketplace for Mobile.According to a PC Pro interview with Todd Biggs, Microsoft's director of product management for the Windows Phone Marketplace, this is a worst-case scenario type of security measure, and something that is unlikely to be a common occurrence given the company's testing process prior to an app becoming available on the market. The more common route, as explained to CNET by Todd Brix, Microsoft's senior director of Windows Phone Product Management, is that Microsoft will get in touch with a developer and try to get them to fix a problem once it's discovered. If that can't be done quickly, an app will be pulled down from the Marketplace. Brix told us that using the kill switch, or "revocation" as it's officially known, is mainly there to solve something with a widespread negative impact on users.Brix noted that people thinking about picking up a Windows Phone 7 device shouldn't live in fear of having their applications disappear. "It's about making sure we have access to high quality apps--a broad selection of apps--and music and other types of content through that shopping experience, and to be able to download and purchase with convenience and confidence," Brix said. The other part of the equation, Brix explained, was making the list of what can and can't be done as transparent as possible. "We don't have any secret rules. We publish all the test cases--we certify those against what users test to." That includes things like keeping applications from inadvertently sharing user information or location, and keeping malware out. "This is common sense protection for the general consumer," Brix said.Apple made headlines in late 2008 when it was discovered that built into every app was a line of code that would phone home to make sure it wasn't on Apple's blacklist, and the app would become disabled if it was. This was later revealed to be more about protecting the security of a user's location for apps that might seek to share it without the user knowing. Around the same time it was discovered that Google's Android had a kill switch of its own that would let Google remove an application remotely. The presence of a software kill switch would not be a first for Microsoft, which as mentioned earlier included such a feature at the tail end of the previous Windows Phone generation. It was also put into place at an OS level in the first incarnation ofWindows Vista. However, that in itself was less about stopping potentially harmful developers, versus keeping people who might have pirated the software from using it to its fullest. That feature was later removed with the software's first major service pack, due in part to what Microsoft said was a much lower rate of piracy.

0 Vote(s)

Google announced today it is giving Microsoft Office users a way to bring their documents into Google Docs without having to leave the Office application. While the service appears within the desktop Office application, this could be the final nail in the coffin for desktop document editing. Microsoft has already taken a strong position in the cloud with the impending launch of Office 365. The company brought all of itsOffice applications online in response to Googlea4a4s increasingly popular web document applications.Windows Live users can currently use the cloud-operated versions of its Office utilities. This could easily serve as a way to ween users off the desktop-based Office software. Office is one of Microsoft&'s biggest cash crops. So the company&'s strong bet on Office in the cloud is a pretty clear indicator of where things are going. Microsoft is already planning to offer a subscription-based Office service in the form of Office 365. It also might even offer asubscription-based operating system service in the form of Windows 8.Google did beat Microsoft to the cloud with the launch of Google Docs. And Google Docs already allows Google users to upload their Microsoft Word and Excel documents into the cloud and turn them into Google-powered office documents. Now Microsoft Office users don&'t even have to manually upload their documents onto Google Docs a4" they can do it straight through the Office applications.Google Apps, the bundle of business tools that includes Docs, has signed up 3 million companies with more than 30 million users total. Google Docs gives small- to mid-sized businesses with employees strewn across the country a powerful free option for collaboration. The alternative Microsoft offered before release of its Office 365 suite was paying for its SharePoint program, a file-sharing and collaboration tool that integrates with its Office suite. This is another win for companies with employees strewn across the country. The business collaboration space is in dire need of consolidation. Forcing users to rely on SharePoint and other extra file-sharing applications to collaborate is only hurting productivity and preventing the virtual office from being as efficient as it can be. Google doesn&'t necessarily have to be the flagship for collaboration, but it certainly isn&'t afraid of trying. It&'s a little surprising to see Google jump in bed with Microsoft now, seeing as the Office creator has been flirting with Facebook at Google&'s expense for some time. Facebook, the largest social network provider in the world, recently jumped on board with Microsoft&'s Bing search engine instead of Google. Facebook also recently announced connectivity with Microsoft&'s cloud-based office applications through its Facebook messages service. But Google didpick up DocVerse for $25 million earlier this year. DocVerse specialized in helping people collaborate on Microsoft Office documents. So this connectivity was certainly a long time coming. The service is currently available to early testers across the world. Google hasn&'t announced when the service will go live to everyone.Next Story: a4AUnlimited juicea4 electric vehicle charging plans: Good idea or exploitation Previous Story: Will trucks and buses beat cars in the electric racePrintEmailTwitterFacebookGoogle BuzzLinkedIn DiggStumbleUponRedditDeliciousGoogleMore&8230' Tags: cloud, cloud office, Google Docs, Microsoft OfficeCompanies: Facebook, Google, Microsoft Tags: cloud, cloud office, Google Docs, Microsoft OfficeCompanies: Facebook, Google, MicrosoftMatthew Lynley is VentureBeat's enterprise writer.
That huge sucking sound you hear is Facebook, piling data from third parties into its mouth as fast as it can while it remains stubbornly greedy about releasing its own data to anyone it doesn&'t like. Which is mostly Google these days, since Yahoo and AOL completely surrendered and Microsoft actually owns part of them.Google shut them down last week, restricting API access and effectively blocking contacts exports to Facebook in any automated way. This is, I wrote, the true beginning of data protectionism. Now Facebook has found a way around that restriction. They&'re leveraging a Google feature that lets users download their own data for their own use &8211' part of Google&'s golf-clap worthy data liberation effort. They&'ve hacked a solution around the block by giving users a direct deep link to the download feature. And then users can upload that file directly to Facebook. Can Google block this One engineer I spoke with says yes, but it will be difficult: &''If Google wanted to, they could block it immediately. it&'s pretty simple. just put a CSRF token on the url to block deep linking but that might fuck up other CSV flows. Maybe they have an outlook importer or something. facebook really went aggressive here.&''It&'s also a big middle finger to Google.CrunchBase InformationGoogleFacebookInformation provided by CrunchBase

0 Vote(s)

Microsoft showed that the next version of its Windows software will run on ARM-based computers, in addition to the traditional Intel-based machines.Rumors of the ARM compatibility surfaced last month, signaling a fracture in the Wintel alliance between Microsoft and Intel that has held sway over PC technology for decades. Microsoft has tried to downplay that angle.Steve Sinofsky (pictured), president of Microsoft&'s Windows division, showed a working version of the future Windows running on Qualcomm, Texas Instruments and Nvidia microprocessors at a press conference today at the Consumer Electronics Show. It&'s not clear when the new version of Windows will ship. But when that happens, it will prove disruptive to the chip market, where Intel has been the dominant provider of chips that run Windows. The Nvidia processor, known as Tegra 2, ran Windows fine. A future version of Nvidia&'s processor, code-named Project Denver, will likely also run Windows with much higher performance. Texas Instruments is also doing a chip that could run the future Windows chip, while Qualcomm&'s Snapdragon family of processors will be able to run the future version of Windows, which Sinofsky did not name but which is widely believe to be Windows 8.&''This shows we are broadening our set of partners,&'' Sinofsky said. But he also noted that x86 partners Intel and Advanced Micro Devices will continue to work with Microsoft. Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer will show the same demos at his keynote speech tonight at CES.Sinofsky started the press event with a discussion about the work Microsoft and its partners have been doing to build systems-on-a-chip, which glue together a bunch of chips into a single massive chip that can run a whole system (or most of one). The company has been trying to integrate lots of hardware and software together to create much smaller devices.Microsoft has a bunch of other demos that show Windows can flow across phones, PCs, and tablet computers. The company also showed off a new version of its gesture-based computing project. Version 2 of Microsoft&'s Surface (pictured) computing tables &8212' where you can wave your hand over the screen of a table-top computer to make things happen &8212' was also demonstrated at the press conference.

[Updated]Video game sales were down 6 percent to $18.58 billion in 2010, compared to $19.7 billion in 2009, according to preliminary estimates for games of all kinds, according to market researcher NPD.Game hardware sales were $6.29 billion, down 13 percent. Game software &8212' consoles and portable games sold in stores &8212' was down 6 percent to $9.36 billion, and game accessories were up 13 percent to $2.93 billion. The latter rose because of sales of Microsoft&'s Kinect and Sony&'s PlayStation Move motion control systems. But if you consider software only (excluding hardware and accessories), sales were flat or down 1 percent to $15.4 billion to $15.6 billion. That software number includes sales of games sold in stores such as console video games, PC titles, and handheld games. But, for the first time, NPD also included sales of digital downloads of games, social network games, game rentals, online game subscriptions, and sales of used games.Overall, games are becoming one of the biggest forms of entertainment, competing favorably with music and movies as they vie for the attention of old and young, male and female audiences alike. With the vast growth of games such as CityVille on Facebook, the notion of being a gamer is becoming as meaningless as a &''moviegoer,&'' since everyone&'s playing. It basically means that games had a better year than last year, when sales were down almost 9 percent. That&'s because of strong holiday sales in the month of December.Spending on games at retail stores still accounted for the majority of games sold. Sales of game software on the PC, portable and consoles was $10.1 billion, down 5 percent from $10.6 billion in 2010. The bright spots included sales of PC games in stores, up 3 percent thanks to blockbusters such as StarCraft II and World of WarCraft Cataclysm.Other strong categories were used game sales, full-game digital downloads, downloadable content, mobile gaming apps, and social network games. Those helped offset declines in console and portable and new physical retail game sales, rentals and subscriptions.&''December 2010 represented one of the strongest monthly performances the industry has ever had at retail,&'' said Michael Gallagher, president of the Entertainment Software Association, the game industry trade group. &''It was a robust finish to a year marked by innovation and engaging millions of consumers through a multitude of delivery models.&''Anita Frazier, an analyst at NPD, said the dynamics of game purchasing changed dramatically in 2010 with options ranging from retail to digital downloads on connected devices as well as in-store kiosks. While physical store sales will likely continue to decline, overall game playing and revenues will likely grow. The year was marked by a series of blockbuster game releases. Activision Blizzard launched titles such as StarCraft II on the PC, Call of Duty Black Ops on all platforms, and World of WarCraft Cataclysm on the PC. Black Ops was the best-selling game of the year. Microsoft also shipped 8 million units of its Kinect motion-control system in the last two months of the year, while Sony sold more than 4.1 million units of its new Sony PlayStation Move motion-control system.A year ago, the video game industry was in worse shape. The recession took its toll on gamers in 2009, with overall sales falling 8.6 percent to $20.2 billion in 2009 compared with $22.11 billion in 2008, according to NPD&'s report a year ago. NPD has since revised the 2009 number to $19.7 billion. In December, 2009, sales rose only 4 percent overall. Those numbers included only traditional console and portable game sales. NPD changed its methods to include broader game sales during 2010.During 2010, Microsoft said it was the only console to show year-over-year console unit sales growth, up 42 percent. Overall, $6.2 billion was spent at retail on Xbox 360 hardware, peripherals and games. In December, Microsoft said it sold more than 1.9 million units.During December, three of the top 10 console games were Xbox 360 titles: Call of Duty Black Ops, Assassin&'s Creed Brotherhood and Kinect Sports. In order to keep up with holiday demand, Microsoft pulled both console and Kinect hardware units from its January and February production. Consequently, Microsoft expects to have shortages in January and February. For 2011, Microsoft believes that Gears of War 3 will be a big seller' it is also launching more Kinect titles such as Avatar Kinect.Nintendo likely saw a fall off in sales as users may be waiting until March before they buy its new 3DS handheld, which allows users to see 3D images without glasses. Nintendo said it sold more than 8.5 million DS units in 2010 and 7 million Wii consoles in the U.S. In December, Nintendo sold 2.5 million DS units and 2.3 million Wii consoles.Since 2005, Microsoft has sold an estimated 51 million Xbox 360 consoles, Sony has sold 46 million PS 3 consoles, and Nintendo has sold 84 million Wiis, on a worldwide basis. Nintendo said that of the 250 million game devices sold in the past decade, Nintendo sold more than half.Sony said it was happy that it was the only console to have a 32-percent increase in sales year-over-year. The company said that the introduction of the Move (while perhaps overshadowed by Kinect) has been a success. Big titles such as LittleBigPlanet 2 and Killzone 3 are also coming soon. Move launched with 50 titles and 20 more are still coming. For December, game sales were $5.06 billion, down 9 percent from $5.55 billion a year ago. Console and portable game hardware was $1.84 billion, down 16 percent in December. Console and portable game software sold in stores was $2.37 billion, down 8 percent. Video game accessories sold in December were $853.2 million, up 10 percent. The biggest selling game of the year was Black Ops. The next most popular games in order were Electronic Arts&' Madden NFL 11, Microsoft&'s Halo Reach, Nintendo&'s New Super Mario Bros., Take-Two Interactive&'s Red Dead Redemption, Nintendo&'s Wii Fit Plus, Ubisoft&'s Just Dance 2, Activision Blizzard&'s Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Ubisoft&'s Assassin&'s Creed Brotherhood, and Take-Two&'s NBA 2K 11.For December, the top-selling physical store games were Black Ops, Just Dance 2, World of WarCraft Cataclysm, Assassin&'s Creed Brotherhood, Nintendo&'s Donkey Kong Country Returns, Disney Epic Mickey from Disney Interactive, Madden NFL 11, Ubisoft&'s Michael Jackson The Experience, NBA 2K 11, and EA&'s Need for Speed Hot Pursuit.Next Story: VentureBeat&'s top gadgets from CES 2011: Atrix, Xoom, PlayBook and more Previous Story: Intel CEO isn&'t scared of Windows on ARMPrintEmailTwitterFacebookGoogle BuzzLinkedIn DiggStumbleUponRedditDeliciousGoogleMore&8230' Tags: game sales, Kinect, Playstation 3, video games, wii, xbox 360Companies: Microsoft, nintendo, SonyPeople: Anita Frazier Tags: game sales, Kinect, Playstation 3, video games, wii, xbox 360Companies: Microsoft, nintendo, SonyPeople: Anita FrazierDean is lead writer for GamesBeat at VentureBeat.
Barack Obama has named Intel chief executive Paul Otellini to the President&'s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. While Otellini is not a supporter, he has a common interesting in seeing that the U.S. remains competitive with other countries when it comes to creating manufacturing jobs. The move also shows the growing alliance between Silicon Valley and Washington, D.C., as tech jobs are one of the best ways to attack the nation&'s stubbornly high unemployment rate of 9 percent.Intel is the world&'s biggest chip maker and is a key U.S. manufacturer, with factories in Arizona, Oregon, California and New Mexico. The company has 82,500 employees and it makes the majority of its chips in the U.S. Otellini recently announced the company would spend $7 billion expanding its U.S. factories.Obama is taking a tour today of Intel&'s chip factory in Hillsboro, Ore. General Electric chief executive Jeffrey Immelt heads the jobs council, which was created by Obama in January. Other industry leaders are expected to be named in coming weeks. The Intel event follows a dinner last night in Woodside, Calif. at the home of venture capitalist John Doerr. That event was attended by the who&'s who of tech company executives, including Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs. It&'s all part of one continuous lovefest with technology. It&'s not going to be easy creating jobs in tech, particularly if there&'s a big mismatch in skills because of an under-educated work force. Silicon Valley&'s own unemployment rate lingers around 10 percent, even though social media is going through a boom.In his State of the Union address, Obama highlighted the importance of technological innovation.a4AThe first step in winning the future is encouraging American innovation,a4 Obama said. a4AWea4a4re the nation that put cars in driveways and computers in offices' the nation of Edison and the Wright brothers' of Google and Facebook.a4Previous Story: Inside the all-electric Esflow, the Nissan Leaf&'s sexier sisterPrintEmailTwitterFacebookGoogle BuzzLinkedIn DiggStumbleUponRedditDeliciousGoogleMore&8230' Tags: Jobs CouncilCompanies: IntelPeople: Barack Obama, Paul Otellini Tags: Jobs CouncilCompanies: IntelPeople: Barack Obama, Paul OtelliniDean is lead writer for GamesBeat at VentureBeat.
Jon Miller, the chairman and chief executive of News Corp.a4a4s digital media group, walked an amusing tightrope today at Business Insidera4a4s Ignition conference today. When asked about News Corp.a4a4s in-development iPad newspaper called The Daily, Miller emphasized that the company hasna4a4t confirmed the iPad newspapera4a4s existence &8212' then he proceeded to talk about what News Corp. would be thinking if it was working on such an app.Miller recalled first looking at the iPad about a year ago with News Corp founder Rupert Murdoch and the Wall Street Journala4a4s managing editor Robert Thomson.a4AIt kind of blew our minds,a4 Miller said, and they believed it might really be a, yes, &''game changer&'' for the media industry.Data about how people use their iPads suggests that optimism is justified, he said, because the iPad is a4Aa real media consumption device.a4 People spend much more time playing games and consuming other media on the device than they do on a PC.This idea of an iPad newspaper has faced plenty of skepticism since rumors of The Daily began. Critics say the content will be locked away in an app, a retro move in a time when the industry is all about sharing content across apps and adding social components. Others, like Conde Nast&'s digital chief Sarah Chubb, say that News Corp is spending so much money on the project that it will be nearly impossible to make a profit. Miller hasna4a4t comment on the first point, but he said Murdoch isna4a4t a4Anickel and diminga4 the newsroom. At the same time, he said rumors that News Corp is spending $30 million on the project are too high.As for when The Daily is coming out, Miller said if such an app exists, you should expect the launch in the first quarter of 2011.Miller also discussed the future of News Corp-owned MySpace, as I covered in a separate post.[photo by Owen Thomas]Next Story: Maxymiser to Optimizely: A/B testing&'s a thing of the past Previous Story: Big data draws big money as IA Ventures raises $50M fundPrintEmailTwitterFacebookGoogle BuzzLinkedIn DiggStumbleUponRedditDeliciousGoogleMore&8230' Tags: Ignition, Ignition 2010, iPad, The DailyCompanies: News CorpPeople: Jon Miller, Rupert Murdoch Tags: Ignition, Ignition 2010, iPad, The DailyCompanies: News CorpPeople: Jon Miller, Rupert MurdochAnthony is VentureBeat's assistant editor, as well as its reporter on media, advertising, and social networks.
