(Credit:Apple)It seems theiPad 2 isn't the only thing fetching a premium online. A short supply of tickets for Apple's sold-out Worldwide Developers Conference in June has led some people to sell theirs at a premium.A quick check on eBay at the publish of this post shows 10 such listings, though as of yesterday, more had been available prior to being sold. The one ending soonest is hovering just north of $3,000, while Computerworld reports that one posted earlier this week was listed at $4,599, both well above the original price of $1,599. WWDC is Apple's annual event for developers, and kicks off June 6 at Moscone West in San Francisco. At the show Apple has said it will give developers "a preview of the future of iOS andMac OS X." Though knowing Apple, there could be a surprise or two. Within 10 hours of going on sale Monday, Apple halted WWDC ticket sales, saying that the event had sold out, making it the fourth consecutive show to run out of spots. Worth noting is that online buyers who want a ticket can't be just anyone. Apple's system requires that WWDC attendees be a registered developer with the company to activate the code that was given out to those who managed to snag tickets. That code is what's being sold as part of these auctions. Even then, such a detail is unlikely to stop someone who's willing to pay double or even triple the price.

0 Vote(s)

The Chevy Volt qualifies for a tax credit due to its electric drivetrain and battery capacity.(Credit:GM)Tax cheats found lucrative ground last year with the $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles. The IRS says that of the approximately 65,000 people that claimed the credit, 20 percent were in error. The EV tax credit was claimed for such vehicles as the Hummer H3, Dodge Durango, and Cadillac Escalade. According to the IRS, the credit only applies to vehicles primarily powered by an electric motor, and that can be plugged in to recharge the batteries. Further, the batteries must have a capacity of at least 5 kilowatt-hours. A vehicle that meets this minimum requirement would render a $2,500 credit. For every kilowatt-hour of capacity over 5, an additional $417 credit is earned, up to a maximum of $7,500.Amongst the erroneous filers, the IRS pointed out that 29 were actually in prison for the entire year. Even some IRS employees who did not have electriccars claimed the credit.Cars currently on sale that would qualify for the credit are the Tesla Roadster, the Nissan Leaf, and the Chevy Volt.(Source: Associated Press)

0 Vote(s)

Given that we are unlikely to get past 2012, perhaps it's churlish to even think of what 2025 might look like. However, the indelible optimists at NASA have revealed images of commercial aircraft designs that might well take to the air, should 2025 actually materialize. It seems that in the darker parts of 2010, NASA gave Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and Northrop Brumman money to ponder what improvements might be made to our current aerial cattle carriers. The initial designs, published on NASA's own site, will make some drool and a few, perhaps, shiver. For at least two of them make me think of, well, war--specifically, military aircraft--while the third seems plain peculiar.Just a little like a Stealth Bomber(Credit:NASA/Boeing)Engine at the back Um, never liked that.(Credit:NASA/Lockheed Martin)Er, double B-52, anyone(Credit:NASA/Northrop Grumman)Life might, indeed, be very peculiar by the time 2025 comes along. And perhaps I am suffering the after-effects of mind-altering 2005 Amista syrah. But perhaps someone else might see in, for example, the Boeing design, a rather touching homage to the Stealth Bomber Then there's the design from Northrop Grumman. Please forgive me in advance (a phrase that does, actually, sometimes work for me), but doesn't it look just a little as if someone took two B-52 bombers and slapped them togetherFinally, the Lockheed design. This, perhaps, seems the most conventional of the three, at least from the angle in which it is presented. Yet again, as someone who merely looks at planes at airports as they arrive late, I'm reminded just a little, by that engine at the back, of the Lockheed Tri-Star--which, oh, never moved me to paroxysms of joy.I would naturally love to hear from those with a more intimate knowledge of both aircraft design and future times.Do these designs move Or are they mere flights of fancy

0 Vote(s)

Are you a freelancer or a startup searching for a desk or two A new site called ShareYourOffice can help you find it.French a4Ainnovation agencya4 faberNovel said it created the site when the company was moving into a larger office and wanted to find other startups to share the space, but couldna4a4t find a service for connecting workers with office space. faberNovel first launched the service in Europe and is now bringing ShareYourOffice to the United States.Judging from the proliferation of coworking and startup incubation spaces in San Francisco, therea4a4s definitely interest from entrepreneurs and other folks in the tech world who dona4a4t want to work at their kitchen table but arena4a4t ready to move into a full office. In fact, many of the initial listings on ShareYourOffice come from coworking spaces (including pariSoma, the coworking office that faberNovel runs in San Francisco). At the same time, pariSomaa4a4s Julian Nachtigal told me that the site is for a4Aanyone looking to rent out, from one desk up to hundreds if they wanted,a4 not just coworking organizations. For example, Ia4a4ve known a bunch of startups who rent an office that&'s bigger than they need, under the assumption that theya4a4ll expand over the next year or two. So to fill the extra space, they rent out the extra desks to friends of the company. ShareYourOffice could help those startups find potential tenants. The site itself is pretty straightforward. Therea4a4s a list of openings, which you can narrow down based on location, price, and whether the desk is in an isolated office or an open space. ShareYourOffice is free &8212' Nachtigal said pariSoma doesna4a4t have any immediate plans to make money from the site.Next Story: Verizon halts iPhone pre-orders due to huge demand Previous Story: Foursquare reveals new &''promoted&'' check-in for Super Bowl SundayPrintEmailTwitterFacebookGoogle BuzzLinkedIn DiggStumbleUponRedditDeliciousGoogleMore&8230' Tags: ShareYourOfficeCompanies: faberNovel, pariSomaPeople: Julian Nachtigal Tags: ShareYourOfficeCompanies: faberNovel, pariSomaPeople: Julian NachtigalAnthony is a senior editor at VentureBeat, as well as its reporter on media, advertising, and social networks.
