While we haven't really been impressed with gaming's presence at the last few CES shows, there does seem to be some evidence that 2011 might be different. Given the news that Nintendo will be making an appearance in Las Vegas, we're anxious to see if the company will be offering a more in-depth look at the next portable gaming system to hit around springtime, the 3DS.

There is also a growing buzz surrounding what's arguably 3D's best platform: video games. Expect to see more 3D HDTV manufacturers showcasing their products' prowess while hooked up to a PlayStation 3 most likely using the highly anticipated Killzone 3 as eye candy.

Of course we're expecting the usual round of new accessories from third-party manufacturers like Turtle Beach, Nyko, and Mad Catz, all of which should now be ready to introduce products compatible with the Microsoft Kinect and PlayStation Move as well.

We're also hoping to see updates to our Best of CES 2010 winner, the Alienware M11x. Will new high-powered compact gaming rigs show their faces next month

2010 seemed to be the year that the gaming headset broke out, so we'll be shocked if a handful of new entries in that market aren't introduced at the big show.

Historically speaking, CES isn't the prime venue for conventional video game unveilings, but considering the odds of the 3DS being in town, what we're expecting in regard to 3D, and the impressive showing made by download-only titles last year, CES 2011 might have a few tricks up its sleeve to delight gamers after all.
