Research In Motion's Mobile Voice System 5 is coming to more phone systems and communications applications, the company announced today.
Companies using the Avaya Aura 6.1 and Avaya CS1000 Communication Server will soon be able to use RIM's platform. The mobile company said that it's also making the platform available to "legacy phone systems," including Avaya Communications Manager and Nortel Communications Server.
RIM's Mobile Voice System 5 allows the use of a single BlackBerry smartphone to take and place calls from an employee's mobile phone number as well as their office number. The service works over both mobile and Wi-Fi networks, and allows for extension dialing, as well as other important features, such as conferencing.
Mobile Voice System 5 is currently available to several phone systems, including Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Cisco Call Manager Express, among others.
RIM said that it will make Mobile Voice System 5 available on the Avaya systems "soon," though the company didn't say exactly when.
