French a4‚¬Ainnovation agencya4‚¬¯ faberNovel said it created the site when the company was moving into a larger office and wanted to find other startups to share the space, but couldna4‚¬a4„t find a service for connecting workers with office space. faberNovel first launched the service in Europe and is now bringing ShareYourOffice to the United States.
Judging from the proliferation of coworking and startup incubation spaces in San Francisco, therea4‚¬a4„s definitely interest from entrepreneurs and other folks in the tech world who dona4‚¬a4„t want to work at their kitchen table but arena4‚¬a4„t ready to move into a full office. In fact, many of the initial listings on ShareYourOffice come from coworking spaces (including pariSoma, the coworking office that faberNovel runs in San Francisco).
At the same time, pariSomaa4‚¬a4„s Julian Nachtigal told me that the site is for a4‚¬Aanyone looking to rent out, from one desk up to hundreds if they wanted,a4‚¬¯ not just coworking organizations. For example, Ia4‚¬a4„ve known a bunch of startups who rent an office that&'s bigger than they need, under the assumption that theya4‚¬a4„ll expand over the next year or two. So to fill the extra space, they rent out the extra desks to friends of the company. ShareYourOffice could help those startups find potential tenants.
The site itself is pretty straightforward. Therea4‚¬a4„s a list of openings, which you can narrow down based on location, price, and whether the desk is in an isolated office or an open space. ShareYourOffice is free &8212' Nachtigal said pariSoma doesna4‚¬a4„t have any immediate plans to make money from the site.
