Confirming that it will unveil the new generation of its Impreza model at the 2011 New York auto show, Subaru posted a small picture of the car. Although the standard Impreza competes with boring cars like the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla, it generates excitement amongst automotive enthusiasts as the basis for the WRX and STI versions.
Subaru released few details about the car other than that it will still have all-wheel drive and get an estimated 36 mpg. Expect Subaru to continue using its boxer-style engine in the new model.
The production car in the photo looks far from exciting, a typical small sedan that will blend in with thousands of other cars like it on the roads. But Subaru seems to be on a mission to make its cars look more homogenous as a way of shedding its quirky image and gaining more sales.
Subaru showed a concept version of the Impreza at last year's Los Angeles Auto Show, although that car had a slightly more aggressive look than the design that made it to production.
The new Impreza will be on display at the 2011 New York auto show starting on April 20.
