The Lexus CT 200h makes the cut on our roundup of the most fuel-efficient new vehicles.

Many of you come to Car Tech looking for high-tech cars with Bluetooth connectivity, GPS navigation, and high-tech infotainment systems with audiophile-quality stereo systems. Some of you are just looking for the most fuel-efficient vehicle possible. For the latter group, we've rounded up 10 of the most fuel-efficient vehicles on the road today. What's most interesting is that, particularly with the hybrids, the most fuel-efficient vehicles are often also among the most high tech.

To keep things simple, we've set a few rules for this throwdown. First, we're separating hybrids and conventional vehicles into separate categories--otherwise, we'd only be looking at the Top 10 hybrids. We're also using EPA-estimated combined fuel economy for the most recent model year as our metric to keep things fair. Additionally, only cars that use an internal combustion engine are included (sorry, Nissan Leaf) and we're restricting the list to those that are available for purchase today (sorry, plug-in Prius). Finally, we've also restricted our lists to new cars. (We understand that your 1980s Rabbit/Civic/Metro averages 40 mpg and we agree that it's a sweet ride, but you won't find it on these lists.)

Update: It was pointed out that we missed the new 2011 Lexus CT 200h in our hybrid roundup, so we've gone back and added it. Unfortunately, that means that the Lexus HS 250h gets bumped to number 6 and no longer makes the Top 5 cut.
